Student Engagement and Participation
Extracurricular activities are an important part to student life, giving opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and skillset. The opportunity to learn through playing sports and games allows the student to meet like minded individuals and expand their social group, to gain confidence and develop leadership skills, and to learn how to manage their time more effectively for completing tasks.
For some students, extracurricular activities are essential for engaging them at school, and keeping them from dropping out. ELL students, kinetic learners, and students who have special needs require stimulation to grow, to keep them happy, and to allow for them to focus on school activities. These students have skills they wish to share, and to demonstrate - and they require the opportunity to do so.
